What is a Blog ?

A Blog is a place or a platform similar to a website where people, specialist and professionals written useful content, article, information, reviews, opinions, news, tips, updates and post/published on the Internet (World Wide Web).

Blog is like a channel where people share their valuable thoughts/ information and news on a particular subject or topic to other people on the Internet. So we can also say that a Blog is an online dairy/ journal maintained by one person (called Blogger).

A blog consists of “blog posts” or diary style “text entries” written by the author of the blog, which is usually displayed in reverse chronological order, most recent posts/ contents shown first or top of the web page followed by the previously update content or oldest one.

A typical blog combines text, images, videos and links to relevant pages and media on the Web. Readers can leave their comments and communicate with the author.

Brief History of Blog

The first personal Blog was created in 1994 by Justin Hall (links.net), a student at Swarthmore College, who is generally recognized as one of the earlier bloggers.

The word “Blog” is a short form of “Weblog”.

The term “Weblog” was coined by Jorn Barger an American blogger, author of Robot Wisdom on 17th December 1997. Barger coined the term weblog to describe the process of “logging the web.

In early 1999, Peter Merholz shortened the Weblog to ‘Blog‘.
